The Farm Machinery Industry – Room to Improve

The FTMTA National Conference for 2012 “The Farm Machinery Industry – Room to Improve” will be held in Portlaoise on Thursday, November 29th.

As in previous years, the aim of the Association is to assemble a panel of expert speakers, who will address topics of relevance in the management of a farm machinery business, and to deliver a conference that will deliver a positive impact in the daily business of all those attending as well as providing a valuable networking day for the industry. A major focus at the conference will be on the national launch of the FTMTA ProDealer Credit Policy which the Association has prepared in recent months and is recommending that FTMTA members adopt as a key aspect of how they do business in the future.

 

The confirmed speakers are:

 

  • Mr. Matt Dempsey, Editor of the Irish Farmers Journal,  who will chair the conference
  • Mr. Andrew Watson, Managing Director of New Holland UK & RoI
  • Mr. Marc Coleman, Leading economic commentator, presenter of Coleman at Large on Newstalk 106 to 108fm and author of a weekly economics column in the Sunday Independent
  • Mr. Declan Flood, Chief Executive of Irish Credit Management Training who will speak on implementing the FTMTA ProDealer Credit Policy
  • Ms. Mairead McGuinness, MEP, will speak in relation to the Common Agricultural Policy

A number of other speakers are about to be finalised and details in relation to these additional speakers will be circulated in the coming days.

The conference is open to all active in the farm machinery sector, irrespective of whether or not they are FTMTA members,  and further information can be obtained by contacting the FTMTA office on 045 409309 or at info@ftmta.ie .The closing date for registration to attend the conference is November 16th.

Tractor Registrations

Registrations of new tractors in Ireland as reported by the FTMTA Statistics Service continue to demonstrate a sustained recovery in that element of the machinery trade. A total of 1,849 new tractors have been registered during the first ten months of 2012 which is a 23% improvement on the same period of 2011. Nearly 20% more new tractors have been registered during 2012 so far than were registered during all of 2011.

70 new tractors were registered during October which was the highest for that month since 2008.

Cork, Wexford and Galway continue to be the counties with the highest levels of registrations during the year to date with 208, 131 and 112 units respectively.

FTMTA Show Closing Date Has Passed

The closing date for receipt of applications in relation to exhibitor space at the upcoming FTMTA Farm Machinery Show has now passed. There is a very limited amount of space remaining and anybody interested in exhibiting at the Show and who has not yet applied is advised to do so as soon as possible.

The FTMTA Farm Machinery Show takes place at Punchestown Event Centre on February 7th, 8th and 9th and will be the premier Irish farm machinery event of 2013.
