General FTMTA News

FTMTA Website

The relaunched Association website continues to attract a growing level of interest from both machinery dealers and buyers. Log in details and instructions on how to upload details of machinery to the machinery listing section of the site have been circulated to all members in recent weeks. Those members who have used the site so far report finding it easy to use and a worthwhile exercise. Any members with questions in relation to the website should contact the Association on 045 409309 or at .

FTMTA Golfing Society

The dates and venues for the FTMTA Golfing Society outings for 2011 have been fixed. The Summer outing will take place at Dundrum House Golf Club, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary on May 20th and the Autumn outing will take place at Heath Golf Club, The Heath, Portlaoise, Co. Laois on September 2nd.

A letter will be sent in the near future to all those on the Golfing Society’s mailing list giving full details of the two outings and asking whether the individual intends to participate in either of the outings during 2011. Those who indicate that they do plan to participate in at least one of the outings will receive further notification by post closer to the outing. The remainder of the mailing list will receive future notification by text message only.

Farm Machinery Industry Training Centre

The Association’s training centre near Naas has been busy in recent weeks with dealer training by Farmec (Ireland) Ltd. in relation to the Sulky fertilizer spreader range and the latest in the series of training courses by Same Deutz – Fahr for technical staff from their dealer network. The coming weeks will see training at the Farm Machinery Industry Taining Centre by a variety of member firms including Traynors of Clonmel, CLAAS Ireland, AGCO, Same Deutz – Fahr and Vapormatic.

Farm Safety Campaign

The Association was glad to facilitate IFA in a roll out of their “Think Safety, Farm Safely” campaign to include farm machinery safety at the recent FTMTA Farm Machinery Show. All dealer and distributor members of the FTMTA will soon receive a supply of stickers promoting the “Think Safety, Farm Safely” message to be placed on machinery or otherwise distributed to customers. The Association is pleased to be involved in this worthwhile initiative.

Following the highly successful and enjoyable FTMTA trip by a group of over 40 people in 2009, the Association plans to organise a similar trip to the AGRITECHNICA show in Hanover in November.

The focus of the trip will be the trade preview days for the show which are Sunday, November 13th and Monday, November 14th. As before, it is intended to travel on the Saturday and return on either the Monday night or Tuesday morning. As soon as flight availability is confirmed details will be issued to members.
