Tractor Registration Statistics
The figures prepared by FTMTA in relation to the registration of new tractors show a pronounced drop of 36% for the month of September with 86 new units registered against the 135 units registered in the same month last year. Despite this substantial monthly drop the figure for the first nine months of the year is down less than 5% on the same period in 2014 with a total of 1,721 units registered during January to September This reduction must be looked at in light of drops in the order of over 15% in some major European markets. Registrations of tractors in the UK in the same period are down 17.5% on 2014 with 1,850 less units registered in the UK in the year so far.
As always, Cork continues to be the county with the highest level of registrations with 223 units followed by Tipperary with 146 and Wexford with 109 units.
Since the introduction of the split registration year, July has become a significant month for the registration of tractors and in this year saw the second highest level of registrations with 236 new tractors registered.
The trend towards higher horse power continues with 48% of all units registered in the first nine months having more than 120 hp and less than 15% having 100 hp or lower.
