FTMTA GRASS & MUCK

Preparations continue to gather speed for the FTMTA Grass & Muck 2012 event at Gurteen Agricultural College, Ballingarry, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary on Thursday, May 17th. Grass conditions at the site, in common with much of the country, are good and continue to improve. This will be the major farm machinery event in Ireland in 2012 and is organised by the trade association for the farm machinery industry who also organise the biennial FTMTA Farm Machinery Show at Punchestown near Naas which will next take place in February of 2013.

Over 80 exhibitors have booked space at FTMTA Grass & Muck 2012 and will have stands either on grass demonstration plots or in the dedicated trade stand area which is at the centre of the grass demonstration plots. Approximately 30 of these firms will be active in one or other of the demonstration areas also. Demonstrations of various types and brands of silage making equipment will be conducted by 19 firms on 65 acres of grass with a number of loader brands demonstrating at the silage pit. There will be 10 exhibitors demonstrating a variety of slurry and dung spreading equipment on maize stubble and grass ground with another five firms demonstrating reseeding equipment on a plot of tilled ground.

There will be a parking charge of €20 per car, irrespective of the number of occupants, with no further admission charge to the event. Ample parking will be provided adjacent to the site. A no parking zone will be in effect in the vicinity of Gurteen College and will be strictly enforced by An Garda Síochána with a tow away policy in operation.

On the site itself, safety is the watchword and visitors are asked to take heed of the fact that FTMTA Grass & Muck 2012 is a working machinery demonstration and to comply with the instructions of safety officers and stewards.
